Zitatekasten 'intercultural'

"Each opinion we voice regarding explicit culture [i.e. observable reality like language, fashion, behaviour ... erg. B&M] usually says more about where we [Hervorheb. i. Orig.] come from than about the community we are judging."

'A fish only discovers its need for water when it is no longer in it. Our own culture is like water to a fish.'

[Trompenaars 'Riding the Waves of Culture', 2nd edition p.20]

The fish then sees that things are not as they use(d) to be. The fish then feels that things are not as they should be.

'Culture is a shared system of meanings. It dictates what we pay attention to, how we act and what we value. Culture organises such values into [..] "mental programmes". The behaviour of people within organisations is an enactment of such programmes.'
'It is our belief that you can never understand other cultures. Those who are [or were erg.
